Why Make Maple?

“It never gets old” says John “Sticky” Shannon after his 49th year making Vermont’s most famous liquid: maple syrup. Every spring the air around our sugarhouse is filled with wafts of that sweet, special aroma that only boiling fresh sap from the maple tree can create. Sorry Aunt Jemima. This smell always awakens a part of us that feels connected back to the early settlers making syrup in iron kettles, and further still to the native Iroquois who first discovered these leaky trees. We hope to share this feeling with all who taste our pure and organic Vermont maple syrup, always crafted with care and love.
